SCOVA.
Govt of India has decided to reconstitute the SCOVA ( Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies)with the following composition.
A)Ministry of state ( personal P.G & Pension )-Chairman.
B)Non-official members (15).
Our association has been nominated in rotating group.The Rotating group would serve for one term of two years and would be eligible for re-nomination for one more term.
Shri M.A karlekar general secretary atteneded the first meeting of SCOVA held on 21-9-2011 at New Delhi.
During 2007, P. Chidambaram, then finance minister, announced a rather novel scheme called reverse mortgages, which promised to give senior citizens an income stream based on the value of property they owned. Reverse mortgages give them a chance to convert their one big asset, their home, into a regular income stream, without sacrificing its ownership.
The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Bill, 2007 is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment . It was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 20th March 2007.

Constitution modification Committee formed during AIC-2010 had a meeting at HQ on
09 April and reviewed the whole constitution. Unanimously following was decided.
- Wording used shall be firm and without ambiguity.
- As far as possible financial limits and provisions which may change with time shall be decided during AIC.
- Additional posts of Technical Adviser and Assistant General Secretary shall be added.
- General Secretary shall prepare modified constitution based on report submitted by the presiding officer and put up for discussion and recommendation by CWC being held on 08 June 2011.
- After getting approval in CWC recommended constitution shall be placed in AIC 2011 for voting and adoption.
- Provisions shall be added to include Association's Website and responsibilities in the constitution.

Good News for pre-Jan 2007 BSNL Pensioners
Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Department of Telecommunication, F.No. 40-17/2008-Pen(T)-Vol.III dated 15th March 2011.
Pre-2007 Pensioner / Family Pensioner means a Pensioner / Family Pensioner, who, after retirement from BSNL during the period 1.10.200 to 31.12.2006, was drawing / entitled to draw pension based upon his combined service in Government and in BSNL, in accordance with sub-rule 21 of rule 37-A of CCS(Pensione) rules 1972, as on 31.12.2006.
The Pensioner / Family Pensioner shall be consolidated with effect from 1.1.2007 by adding together(i), (ii) and (iii) Other salient points are given from (iv) to (xiv):
i) The existing Pensioner / Family Pensioner, including commuted portion of pension, if any;
ii) Dearness relief up to AICPI (IW) average index 126.33 (Base Year 2001=100) i. e.. @ 68% of Basic Pensioner / Family Pensioner;
iii) Fitment weightage @ 30% of the sum of existing Pensioner / Family Pensioner and Dearness Relief thereon.
iv) Amount so arrived at will be regarded as consolidate Pensioner / Family Pensioner with effect from 1.1.2007.
v) Revised Pension in no case shall be less than 50% of the minimum of the pay in the prerevised pay scale in which the pensioner retired.
vi) Lower and upper limits of Pensioner / Family Pensioner shall be 3500 and 45000 respectively.
vii) Additional Pensioner / Family Pensioner based on age shall start at 80 years of age @ 20%, 85 years @ 30%, 90 years @ 40%, 95 years @ 50% and over 100 years @100%.
viii) Amount of additional pension shall be shown distinctly in PPO.
ix) IDA as on 1.1.2007 shall be @0%, 1.4.2007 @0.8%, 1.7.2007 @1.3%, 1.10.2007 @4.2%, 1.1.2008 @5.8%, 1.4.2008 @6.3% 1.7.2008 @9.2%, 1.10.2008 @12.9%, 1.1.2009 @16.6%, 1.4.2009 @16.9%, 1.7.2009 @18.5%, 1.10.2009 @25.3%, 1.1.2010 @30.9%, 1.4.2010 @34.8%, 1.7.2010 @35.1%, 1.10.2010 @39.8 %, 1.1.2011 @ 43.0%.
x) Cases of BSNL pensioners who are in receipt of any other pension may be referred to DOT for issue of orders separately.
xi) A suitable entry regarding revised consolidated pension shall be recorded by the PDA in bothhalves of PPO and intimated to CCA. CCA on verification shall issue revised PPO.
xii) CCA/Head of the office from where BSNL employee had retired or where he was working prior to demise while in service shall be responsible for revise pension and shall not ask pensioner / family pensioner to submit existing PPO.
xiii) Revised pension shall be disbursed with effect from month of July 2011.
xiv) Arrears of pension shall be paid before 30th of September 2011.
